Softball Adds Six Games to 2011 Schedule

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Softball program announced changes to the 2011 softball schedule today, January 31st. The additions to the schedule are highlighted by two games against perennial Women's College World Series participant Tennessee and a game against the Dutch National Team. A pair of home games against Mount St. Mary's was also added to the schedule.
The Eagles will play in the Tennessee Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee. The tournament starts on Saturday, March 5th with the Eagles facing the Lady Vols who were ranked No. 4 in the preseason USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll. GSU will face Louisiana-Monroe later in the day.
On Sunday, March 6th, Georgia Southern will again face Tennessee before playing an international friendly against the Dutch National Team.
The mid week addition to the schedule comes on Thursday, March 10th, as Georgia Southern welcomes Mount St. Mary's to Eagle Field for an afternoon doubleheader. The games start at 3 p.m.
The 2011 schedule opens Feb. 12th and 13th as the Eagles play host to Mercer and Radford for four games to open the season.
The regular season concludes as Georgia Southern plays host to the 2011 Southern Conference Tournament, May 11-14 at Eagle Field on campus. The tournament field will consist of all nine schools.
