Blackburn Named ABCA All-Atlantic Region

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The American Baseball Coaches Association has announced the 2010 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA All-Atlantic Region Team as well as the 2010 All-America teams and Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. Georgia Southern senior first baseman Kyle Blackburn was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region Second Team.
Blackburn (Marietta, Ga.) finished his senior campaign leading the team in six offensive categories including batting average (.353), home runs (17), RBI (76), total bases (148), slugging percentage (.661) and walks (45). The left-handed hitter matched a career-high RBI driving in five runs against UNC Greensboro using two home runs in the contest – the fifth time in his career to hit two home runs in a game.
For his career, Blackburn hit .325 with 514 at-bats in four seasons. He collected 167 hits, 40 home runs and 142 RBI. His career slugging percentage was .623 and with only five fielding errors, Blackburn posted a .990 fielding percentage.
The Atlantic Region was well represented at the national level, as 12 of its First-Team All-Region players also were named to one of the three ABCA All-America teams, including three on the first team (UCF outfielder Chris Duffy, Miami catcher Yasmani Grandal, Virginia starting pitcher Danny Hultzen).
Georgia Tech led all Atlantic Region schools with four all-region picks. Coastal Carolina and Virginia each had three recipients, while Appalachian State and Miami posted two honorees apiece. Virginia had two All-America honorees to lead the region's schools.
