Iduate Earns Southern Conference Player Of The Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Georgia Southern) - Nina Iduate was named Southern Conference Softball Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday, after leading Georgia Southern to a series sweep over Elon (May 1-2).
The senior shortstop from Norcross, Ga., led the Eagles offensively, hitting .700 with seven hits in ten at-bats in the three games. Iduate had a double, and also walked twice. She scored four runs and drove in three over the series.
In the first game, Iduate hit .500 with two RBIs, leading the Eagles to a 3-2 win, and followed it up with a 5-for-5 performance in game two Saturday. She also had an RBI and scored three times as the Eagles won 14-9. Iduate closed out the series going 1-for-3 on Sunday with a run scored in Georgia Southern's 7-4 victory.
The award is the first of the season for Iduate and third weekly conference honor by an Eagle this season.
Georgia Southern wraps up the regular season with a three-game set at Furman. The Eagles and Paladins will square off Sunday with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Game three is set for Monday at 1 p.m.
