Blackburn Tabs SoCon Player of the Week Honor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference office announced Monday morning that Kyle Blackburn was tabbed the SoCon Baseball Player of the Week for all games from May 10-16.
Blackburn (Marietta, Ga.) paced the Eagles in the five games last week, batting .579 (11-for-19) while collecting at least one hit in each game. He launched two home runs, both at Davidson, to move his season total to 15. Using three doubles and two home runs, he drove in nine RBIs and scored nine times, including four in the opening game at Davidson on Thursday. The senior recorded a slugging percentage of 1.053 in the five games with an on-base mark of .600 while Georgia Southern was a perfect 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Southern Conference.
Blackburn leads the team in home runs (15), walks (43), RBI (69), slugging percentage (.657) and on-base percentage (.480). The senior is currently on a 12-game hitting streak marking the longest of his career.
This is the first SoCon Player of the Week award for the Eagles who have collected three Pitcher of the Week honors this season.
The Eagles wrap up their non-conference slate with a road game at Jacksonville, Tuesday, May 18. Georgia Southern takes on the Dolphins in a 6:30 p.m. matchup at Sessions Stadium.
