Eagle Softball Takes Three-Seed to SoCon Championship

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Taking the third seed into today's opening game of the 2010 Southern Conference Softball Championship, Georgia Southern meets second-seeded Elon at 11 a.m. at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga. Chattanooga, the top seed in the field, meets UNC Greensboro at approximately 1:30 p.m. The evening games will begin at 5 p.m. and approximately 7:30 p.m. The 7:30 p.m. game will feature the winners of the two early games while the losers will play at 5 p.m. for the chance to advance to Friday morning.
The Eagles are led by two-time SoCon Pitcher of the Year Brianna Streetmon (Winder, Ga.), who will start in the circle today against the Phoenix, and SoCon Player of the Year Nina Iduate (Norcross, Ga.) who led the league in batting average and hits. Streetmon and Iduate were joined on the All-Conference first team by junior pitcher/outfielder Megen Smith (Springfield, Ga.).
