Outcome of Final Game Puts Eagles at Sixth Seed in South Division

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference had to wait to finalize the pairings for the SoCon Tournament until the end of tonight's game between UNCG and Georgia Southern. The final game of the 2009-10 Southern Conference season had implications all the way to the final seconds as UNCG captured the fourth seed in the North Division with an 81-79 win on Monday. Georgia Southern (9-22, 6-12) will take the sixth seed in the South Division against Chattanooga (14-17, 6-12) in Game 4 on Friday, March 5, the first day of competition in the SoCon Tournament in Charlotte.
Game 4 pitting the Mocs vs. the Eagles will tipoff 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 7 p.m. game between (4S) The Citadel vs. (5N) Samford. The Eagles and Mocs met once this year with Chattanooga winning on January 6 at Hanner Fieldhouse 75-63
The opening round and quarterfinals (March 5-6) will take place at Bojangles Coliseum while the semifinals and championship game will be held at Time Warner Cable Arena (March 7-8), home of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats.
Wofford (23-8, 15-3 SoCon) and College of Charleston (20-10, 14-4) secured the top seeds in the South Division and earned byes until Saturday's quarterfinals. Appalachian State (20-11, 13-5) and Western Carolina (21-10, 11-7) earned byes in the North Division and will wait to be matched up with their opponents following Friday's opening round.
The tourney will begin with Davidson (16-14, 11-7) taking on Elon (8-22, 5-13) at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. That game will be followed by UNC Greensboro (7-22, 6-12) taking on Furman (13-16, 7-11). Friday's evening session begins when The Citadel (15-15, 9-9) squares off against Samford (11-19, 5-13) at 7:00 p.m. Chattanooga and Georgia Southern will meet in the final game of the first day.
