Eagles End 2010 Season at SoCon Cross Country Championships

BOONE, N.C. - Missing two of its top runners, the Georgia Southern Cross Country team managed a 12th-place finish at the Southern Conference Championships on Saturday, October 30th. The Eagles ran the 5K race at the hilly State Farm Field Complex. Samford earned the team championship, placing three of its seven runners in the top 10. Junior Ashley Schnell from UNC Greensboro won the individual title, finishing six seconds ahead of the next finisher.
Sophomore Sara Curry (Lawrenceville, Ga.) ran a 19:48.45 as the top Georgia Southern finisher. Teammate and classmate Heather McAllister (Cartersville, Ga.) finished with a time of 20:54.31 with junior Azura Robillard (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) two spots behind her with a time of 21:13.33.
Amanda Ventre (Acworth, Ga.) logged her first performance at a SoCon championship event with a time of 21:31.37. Fellow freshman Asea Mayfield (Marietta, Ga.) and sophomores Rice (Stockbridge, Ga.) and Amanda Tennyson (Grayson, Ga.) finished out the field for the Eagles.
