Eagles Prepare for Three Matches in Florida

STATESBORO, GA – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team continues this four-match road swing with three contests in Florida this weekend. The Eagles will play a double-header on Saturday beginning with Florida State at 9:00 a.m. GS will then face either Florida Gulf Coast or South Alabama at 3:00 p.m. before facing Florida A&M Sunday at noon.

Georgia Southern opened the 2010 regular season campaign dropping a 5-2 decision at No. 47 Georgia Tech. Senior
Jayraj Jadeja (London, England) started his final collegiate season with a dismissal of Juan Spir at the top seed. Jadeja grabbed the first set, 7-5, in a come-from-behind fashion and took the decisive third set, 6-4, for the victory. Juan Manuel Melian Puigventos (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain) captured the Eagles' second point cruising past No. 112 Dusan Miljevic in straight sets. The freshman Eagle swept Miljevic in the opening frame, 6-0, and notched the second in a 6-3 fashion.

Florida State will host its first home event of the season on Saturday, January 23. All matches will be played at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. Following the 9 a.m. contest, Florida Gulf Coast and South Alabama face each other at 11:00 a.m. The winners of both matches and the losers of both matches will play at 3:00 p.m.

Georgia Southern then faces a quick turnaround, contesting Florida A&M on Sunday, January 24 at 12:00 p.m. During the 2009 regular season, the Eagles handled the Rattlers, 7-0, at the Hanner Tennis Complex.

The Eagles will open their home slate Sunday, January 31 against USC Upstate at 10:00 a.m. as part of a double-header with the women's team following at 2:00 p.m.
