Statesboro, Ga. -- Georgia Southern head men's basketball coach Charlton Young, on the road recruiting this month, is featured on ESPN.com today (July 8) in the college basketball section. In the article, he talked about the faith he has to improve the Eagles' 8-22 record from last season.
Young was a two-time league MVP for the Eagles from 1989-1993, and a member of the last Georgia Southern team to go to the NCAA tournament in 1992.
Known for his ability to recruit great basketball players, he has signed players who are among the nation's top prospects and who have gone on to the NBA. Two of his signees for GS are 6-foot-7 forward Cameron Bakerville (Marietta, Ga.) and 6-foot-8 forward Rory Spencer (Alpharetta, Ga.).
Young is determined to revive the Eagles Men's Basketball program. “I've always felt this University and program was a gold mine,” said Young in the article.
