Softball Flashback: Georgia Southern 6, Furman 4

STATESBORO, Ga. - After allowing only one run in the first three games of the Furman series, the Georgia Southern softball team had to hold on to win 6-4 in game four, after the Paladins rallied from a 5-1 deficit to cut the lead to two runs.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 5-1 lead after scoring five runs in the first three innings. GSU was only able to muster one run over the remaining four inning while Furman scored single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings cutting the lead to two runs.
Jaclyn Kaylor went three for four with two RBIs, two doubles and a home run. Kaylor drove in the first two runs of the game with a two-out homer in the first inning.
Aimee Littlejohn struck out six in almost six innings of work and kept Furman in checking allowing two earned runs on only five hits.
GSU used three straight hits and a sacrifice fly to score two more runs in the second inning. Suzanne Pansulla led off with a double and scored on Kelly Blazi's RBI single.
Furman loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh and scored a run on a ground out. Lacey Kammerer, who came on to pitch in the sixth, rebounded after allowing the run. She got Heather Flanagan to pop up to end the game.
The 1999 team went on to beat Furman and Chattanooga twice to win the SoCon Tournament. They also set the record for most wins in a season.
