Men's Basketball Coach Charlton Young Throws First Pitch Saturday

STATESBORO, Ga. - New Georgia Southern University men's basketball coach Charlton Young will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch for the first game of the Baseball Eagles doubleheader against Furman May 2. Young was named head coach of his alma mater in early April.
While playing for Georgia Southern (1989-1993), Young started in 97 straight games at point guard and racked up impressive numbers, averaging 14.8 points per game and 4.9 assists per contest. Young was selected as the Trans American Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player for his performances in three victories in the TAAC tournament, eventually leading the Eagles to the 1992 NCAA Tournament.
Currently second in the Southern Conference with a record of 13-6 and 31-12 overall, the Baseball Eagles prepare for a three-game league series against Furman at J.I. Clements Stadium. Saturday's gametime is set for 1:30 p.m.
