Softball Faces Familiar Foe Charleston Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. - Holiday Inn Eagle Classic participant, Charleston Southern (20-25, 5-7), returns to Statesboro to face Georgia Southern (19-17, 9-6) in a doubleheader Wednesday at Eagle Field.
The Eagles defeated the Buccaneers 4-2 in the first game of the classic on the back of Robyne Siliga's (Oceanside, Calif.) seventh inning two-run homer. CSU has allowed only three other seventh inning runs this season.
Kristan Glover (Evans, Ga.) earned her fourth win in complete game fashion, allowing only two runs, walked none and struck out six.
Amanda Hall (Haddock, Ga.) gave Georgia Southern an early 2-1 lead in the third inning, with a two RBI double.
Georgia Southern is coming off back-to-back series' wins against Samford and Elon and continues to lead the SoCon in batting (.299). The Eagles rank second in the nation with 1.78 doubles per game. Seven starters all are hitting better than .300. GSU also moved back into second place with the series' win Saturday.
Charleston Southern has lost seven of their last eight games but sport two pitchers with below 3.00 ERAs. The pitching staff ranks second in the Big South with a 3.06 ERA. Jamie Wellons and Sondra Vetter have both won 10 games this season.
Gail Matsushima leads the Buccaneers' attack with a .356 average and 15 doubles.
The Eagles are 37-11 against Charleston Southern all time and are currently on a seven-game win streak.
First pitch in Wednesday's doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
