SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern's Robyne Siliga (Oceanside, Calif.) was named SoCon Player of the Week for her effort against Georgia Tech last week.
The senior third baseman went four for five with a huge three-run homer that propelled the Eagles to a 6-5 victory over Georgia Tech last Tuesday. Georgia Southern snapped the Yellow Jackets' two year home non-conference win streak with the win in game two.
Siliga helped the Eagles rally back after Georgia Tech scored three runs in the first inning. The Oceanside, Calif. native led off the third inning with a walk before Amanda Hall (Haddock, Ga.) hit a two-run home run to put Georgia Southern on the board.
Two two-out hits by Nina Iduate (Norcross, Ga.) and Hanna Ennis (Snellville, Ga.) put runners on the corners for Siliga in the fourth inning, and she responded with a no doubt home run to left giving the Eagles a 6-4 lead.
Softball will be back in action this weekend against Samford. First pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
