SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern softball pitcher Brianna Streetmon (Winder, Ga.) was a near unanimous pick as Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week.
The sophomore pitcher went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA last week and helped the Eagles complete the series sweep over the Mountaineers.
Streetmon has been stellar on the mound this season and leads the conference in ERA.
She received the honors one day after she carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning of Sunday's series finale. The Winder native retired the side in the seventh, setting up Georgia Southern for a dramatic walk-off victory. She pitched a complete game in game one of the series and was stellar after the Eagles took a 5-3 lead. She allowed no runs and only two hits in the final three innings.
The Pitcher of the Week honor is the first such honor for Streetmon and the first for Georgia Southern this season. Melissa Laliberte received the last such honor for the Eagles after going 2-0 with a 1.87 ERA against Chattanooga last season (May 3-4).
