Eagles Welcome Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M

STATESBORO, GA ? After opening its season with a dismissal of Hampton (Feb. 1), the Georgia Southern men's tennis team continues this four-match homestand welcoming Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. First serve on Saturday (Feb. 7) against the Wildcats is slated for 11 a.m. and first serve on Sunday against the Rattlers is set for noon.

Georgia Southern opened its dual match season against Hampton (Feb. 1) with a decisive 6-1 victory. The Eagles won the doubles point by securing victories from the one and two seeds, respectively, and then went on to claim five singles matches. The match saw newcomers
Edio Castanhel, Alain Garrido and Justin Flynn record their first victories as Eagles.

Bethune-Cookman (0-3) is coming off a 6-1 loss at UCF (Jan. 31). BCU dropped the doubles point and five singles matches in the loss; the Wildcats recorded one singles victory at the four seed.

Last season, inclement weather forced the cancellation of the Bethune-Cookman season opening match against Georgia Southern. Instead, the Eagles opened last season against Florida A&M and dropped a close 4-3 decision. The Rattlers took the doubles point to gain the early advantage and won three singles matches to clinch the win. Georgia Southern recorded victories at the one, five and six seeds, respectively, as current Eagles Philip Prins and Matthew Sands both won their matches.
