Softball Hits the Road for the First Time This Season

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern softball (2-2) travels to Tallahassee, Fla. Tuesday to face Florida A&M (3-2) in the first road series of the year. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Eagles are coming off of a sweep of Mercer in Sunday's doubleheader. Georgia Southern won game one 5-3 and game two 9-5.
Kristan Glover (Evans, Ga.) picked up both wins on 8.2 combined innings pitched.
“Kristen really stepped up and got the job done,” said Johnson.
Robyne Siliga (Oceanside, Calif.) hit a home run in both game one and game two. Siliga leads the team in home runs (2), batting average (.429), slugging (1.286) and walks (3).
“Robyne just hits the ball hard,” said Johnson.
Freshman Mackenzie Williams (Baxley, Ga.) started game two against Mercer and after striking out twice, she hit a grand slam for her first career hit.
The Eagles lead the SoCon in slugging with a .485 percentage. The bats came alive Sunday as Georgia Southern launched four home runs in 15 combined hits.
Amanda Hall (Haddock, Ga.) ranks fifth in the league with five RBIs and is averaging 1.25 RBIs per game.
Brianna Streetmon (Winder, Ga.) is tied for sixth in the conference with a 2.71 ERA.
Florida A&M went 3-1 in the MEAC / SWAC Tournament defeating Southern, Alabama A&M and Jackson State. The Rattlers are coming off of a 5-0 loss to Florida State last Wednesday.
Amanda Reyes is 2-2 on the season and leads the team with a 2.30 era. She has only allowed seven earned runs in 21.1 innings.
Ashley Jones leads the Rattlers in slugging percentage (1.214), runs batted in (8) and home runs (2).
The Eagles return home to participate in the Holiday Inn Eagle Classic this weekend. Georgia Southern will play Charleston Southern in their first game on Friday at 1 p.m.
