STATESBORO, Ga. - Laura Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) and the rest of the Georgia Southern cross country team are set to run in the 4K Asics Winthrop Fall Classic Saturday at 10:45 a.m.
"I am really looking forward to the race on Saturday. We have had two really great weeks of practice, and I believe that it will show in the girls' performances this weekend. Some of our freshman are finally beginning to figure some things out, and they need a good race under their belts before conference so that they can go in with some confidence," said head coach Natalie Smith.
Fuller has led the Eagles in three races this season and set her season high in the Citadel Invitational (Oct 2).
The Eagles also had five runners set personal bests at the Citadel Invitational including: Sara Curry (Lawrenceville, Ga.), Morgan Jefferson (Villa Rica, Ga.), Brittani Martin (Alpharetta, Ga.), Heather McAllister (Cartersville, Ga.) and Azura Robillard (Altamonte Springs, Fla.).
"We have young ladies from each class really stepping up and that says a lot about the future of this program. I really love the foundation that we are building in our cross country team, and I believe we are going to see even more of the benefits of it when we transition over to track in the next month," said Smith.
The 4K Asics Winthrop Fall Classic will get underway at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in Rock Hill, S.C.
