Men's Basketball's Road Trip Continues Saturday at Charleston

The Eagles try to shake off a tough loss at The Citadel and will look to rebound against the College of Charleston Saturday afternoon.
The game will be televised by CSS and will start at 4 p.m.
“We need to refocus,” said head coach Jeff Price. “We have to put the last game behind us and take them one game at a time and continue to try and get better. We've got to do a better job of staying in front of the ball defensively and make open shots. We missed a lot of open shots yesterday.”
After a nine-game winning streak, the Cougars have dropped two straight, albeit to Davidson and No. 3 North Carolina.
All five starters average at least 9.8 points per game and as a team averages 80.1 per contest, third in the Southern Conference. Over the last five games, the Eagles are giving up 85.6 per outing.
“They are really talented and have really good balance, inside and out,” said Price. “They shoot the ball great from the perimeter and Jermaine Johnson's really good on the block. That's what makes them so good - they're just well balanced both in and out.”
The CofC offense is led by sophomore Andrew Goudelock's 17.2 average which ranks third best in the SoCon. He was held to just eight points on 3-of-14 shooting Wednesday at North Carolina.
“I think he's definitely one of the best guards in the league,” said Price. “When he's shooting the ball well he's hard to stop because he's extremely quick off the dribble. He's an explosive offensive player.”
Georgia Southern will be without Willie Powers who suffered an ACL injury Thursday night at The Citadel. He scored 14 points against the Bulldogs and tied his career high with six assists. Over his previous five games he averaged 16.6 points and shot 52.3% from the floor.
“Obviously we're going to have to learn how to play without him,” said Price. “We're not just going to miss his offense production but also his leadership and his experience. Injuries are part of the game - we're going to have to find a way to overcome it.”
Hoping to pick up the slack is junior Antonio Hanson who poured in 17 Thursday night thanks in part to four 3-pointers. In his last three games (all starts) he is averaging 18.0 ppg.
“I don't think his role will change a whole lot,” said Price. “We don't want him to start doing too much because Willie is out. He just needs to continue playing the way he's been playing and look to take open shots and create off the dribble.”
Georgia Southern's most consistent performer all season has been senior Julian Allen. After setting a new career high with 12 rebounds Jan. 3 vs. Chattanooga, he matched that Thursday and added a season-best 20 points for his third career double-double.
