STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern swimming and diving team (5-6) is set to host its first home meet of the season Saturday at noon and will face CCSA foe Davidson (2-6) at the RAC.
The Lady Eagles faced Davidson earlier in the season when they participated in the Davidson Invitational (11/21-23) where the Wildcats finished first in the meet. Georgia Southern received a strong performance from former CCSA Swimmer of the Week Lauren Parr
(Canton, Ohio) in the meet. She finished second in the 200 yard butterfly and third in the 400 yard IM. She was also a member of the third place 400 medley relay team.
In their last meet the Lady Eagles went 1-1 in the FGCU Tri-Meet last Saturday afternoon. Georgia Southern defeated Radford 236-54 but lost to Florida Gulf Coast 184-105 in Fort Meyers, Fla. Georgia Southern had four first place finishes in the meet. Courtney Martz (Woodbine, Ga.) finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.98. She also finished third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.85.
Divers Nikki Hutchison (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Katie Creighton (Snellville, Ga.) finished one-two in the three meter dive. Both Hutchison and Creighton set new season highs in the event.
Georgia Southern also won the 200 yard freestyle relay. Martz, Katelyn Woolfolk (Satellite Beach, Fla.), Kristen Haudenschild (Woodbridge, Va.) and Ali Campbell (Ft. McMurray, Alberta) combined for a time of 1:39.15.
The Lady Eagles hit the road after Saturday's meet and will face North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
