NEXT GAME: Georgia Southern concludes a three-game road trip when it plays host to Davidson on Saturday, January 17th. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be televised live on SportSouth... The UNCG game also begins a stretch of three games in five days as the Eagles travel to Western Carolina on Monday night (Jan. 19).

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS: UNC Greensboro snapped a 10-game losing streak last Saturday, winning at Appalachian State 85-83 in overtime... Damian Eargle led the way with 25 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots before fouling out... Ben Stywall added 19 points/11 rebounds off the bench. He did not commit a turnover in 34 minutes... The Spartans have played only four home games to date, the victory a 90-78 win over Webber International... Mikko Koivisto leads the scoring attack at 12.8 points and dished out 36 assists... Stywall averages 8.8 points in addition to his team-leading 8.5 rebounds and 16 steals... Eargle averages 4.8 rebounds and blocked a team-leading 20 shots.

POWERS OUT FOR SEASON: Sophomore guard Willie Powers suffered an ACL injury to his knee and will miss the remainder of the season. Head coach Jeff Price made the announcement... Powers' 14.5 points per game not only led the Eagles but ranked eighth in the Southern Conference. He also ranked fifth in the league dishing out 3.6 assists per game. Powers was shooting 80 percent from the free throw line and averaged 1.5 steals, both stats good for eighth-best in the conference... “Willie was having an All-Conference type season so I do feel for him. We are always concerned about the mental and physical well-being of our student-athletes. It is a tough situation for him, but knowing Willie he will work extremely hard to get back as soon as he can,” said Price. “We have to find some guys willing to step up and carry the load. Some of our freshmen will have an opportunity to earn additional (playing) minutes.”

ANOTHER 20 WIN SEASON: With its 98-68 win at home over The Citadel last season, Georgia Southern clinched its 15th 20-win season in school history... It was the third time in five years that the Eagles amassed a 20+ win season, going 21-8 in 2003-04 and 20-10 in 2005-06... As a school, Georgia Southern has recorded eight 20+ win seasons in its DI history... Current head coach Jeff Price has three 20-win seasons at the helm, while Frank Kerns had five and J.B. Scearce had seven.

PRICE third at gsu in victories: Current head coach Jeff Price is currently third all-time at Georgia Southern in career victories with 161... He ranks behind J.B. Scearce (396 wins) and Frank Kerns (244)... Price's winning percentage of .577 is fifth-best in school history... Kerns, who serves as the color commentator on radio broadcasts, posted a .674 percentage in 12-plus seasons... Price already has the fourth-longest tenure of any men's basketball coach at GSU.

and approaches another milestone: Head Coach Jeff Price is approaching another milestone in his stellar coaching career. With 295 career wins (in his 16th year), Price needs five more wins to reach 300... With the Eagles' 91-75 win over Wofford on January 14, 2006, Price won his 250th career game... Price also recorded his 150th and 200th career wins since coming to Georgia Southern... His 200th win came on November 21, 2003, in a 94-55 win over North Georgia and his 150th win came on Feb. 12, 2000 in a 58-52 win over The Citadel in just his 26th game at the helm at Georgia Southern.

ALLEN CLEARING THE GLASS: Senior guard Julian Allen leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.2 per game... Allen has led the team in seven of the 12 games, including a current streak of five straight... He matched his career-high of 12 at The Citadel, part of his 20 points/12 rebounds double-double... Allen ranks ninth among the league leaders, and also ranks 18th in scoring (12.4 ppg)... He is just one of three players in the league to rank among the ?Top 18' in scoring and ?Top 10' in rebounds (Nicchaeus Doaks, UTC; Noah Dahlman, Wofford).

HANSON POURS IN CAREER-HIGH: Junior guard Antonio Hanson paced the Eagles by scoring a career-high 25 points at the College of Charleston... It was his third 20-point game this season and fourth straight scoring in double-figures... Hanson hit 9-of-22 field goals, including 5-of-13 beyond the arc... Hanson moved into 13th among the SoCon scoring leaders and now third averaging 3.1 ?3s' per game... With the season-ending injury to Willie Powers, Hanson now stands as the team's leading scorer.

MARSHALL PLAN: Anthony Marshall has seniority on the team. A fifth-year senior, Marshall has played in 96 career games... He is fourth on the team averaging 3.5 rebounds, including 11 during the recent two-game stretch through Charleston.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT: True-freshman Ben Drayton III made his fourth start of the year at College of Charleston, scoring a season-high 13 points... It was his fourth double-digit scoring game of the year... He also dished out a season-high five assists against the Cougars... Drayton is one of three Eagles with more assists (22) than turnovers (20).

FRESHMAN EARNS THE START: True-freshman Colby Wohlleb earned his first collegiate start at the College of Charleston... He entered the game shooting better than 30 percent from beyond the arc but went through an uncharacteristic 0-for-7 performance... Twice this year he scored a season-high six points.

TROUPE ON THE GLASS: Tyler Troupe stands second on the team averaging 5.0 rebounds per game to go with his 6.8 points... He posted season-highs of 15 points/12 rebounds in the home-opener against Reinhardt... He came close again with 10 points/8 rebounds at Drake.

PEARSON IN THE POST: Senior Trumaine Pearson ranks among the scoring and rebounding leaders at 6.4 and 4.4, respectively... He started the year with a 19-point/11-rebound performance against Houston in the 2K Sports Classic... He added 15 points and seven caroms in the win over Chattanooga.
