STATESBORO,
Powers' 14.5 points per game not only led the Eagles but ranked eighth in the Southern Conference. He also ranked fifth in the league dishing out 3.6 assists per game. Powers was shooting 80 percent from the free throw line and averaged 1.5 steals, both stats good for eighth-best in the conference.
“Willie was having an All-Conference type season so I do feel for him. We are always concerned about the mental and physical well-being of our student-athletes. It is a tough situation for him, but knowing Willie he will work extremely hard to get back as soon as he can,” said Price. “We have to find some guys willing to step up and carry the load. Some of our freshmen will have an opportunity to earn additional (playing) minutes.”
The Eagles (4-8 overall, 2-2 SoCon) return to action on Thursday night (Jan. 15) at UNC Greensboro.
