FORT MEYERS, Fla. - The Georgia Southern swimming & diving team went 1-1 in the FGCU Tri-Meet Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles (5-6) defeated Radford (1-7) 236-54 but lost to Florida Gulf Coast (8-3) 184-105.
Georgia Southern had four first place finishes in the meet. Courtney Martz (Woodbine, Ga.) finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.98. She also finished third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.85.
Nikki Hutchison (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Katie Creighton (Snellville, Ga.) finished one-two in the three meter diving event. Both Hutchison and Creighton set new season highs in the event.
Caroline Bevillard (Bishop, Ga.) picked up the Lady Eagles third first place finish in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:13.42. She set a new season high in the event.
Georgia Southern also won the 200 yard freestyle relay. Martz, Katelyn Woolfolk (Satellite Beach, Fla.), Kristen Haudenschild (Woodbridge, Va.) and Ali Campbell (Ft. McMurray, Alberta) combined for a time of 1:39.15.
Katie Crider (Bloomington, Ind.) and Woolfolk tied with each other for third place in the 50 yard free with a time of 25.59.
Lindsay Goodman (Knoxville, Tenn.), Kristin Butts (Woodstock, Ga.), Haudenschild and Woolfolk combined for a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay.
Goodman also finished third in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.53.
Lauren Parr (Canton, Ohio) finished second in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:27.13.
Campbell finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:30.93.
Creighton finished fifth in the 1 meter dive and set a new season high with a mark of 198.70.
The Lady Eagles return home for their first home meet of the season against Davidson on Saturday, January 17, at noon.
