STATESBORO, Ga. --- Georgia Southern head men's basketball coach Jeff Price has announced that sophomore guard Johntavious Rucker will miss the 2008-09 season with an ACL injury.
The Decatur, Ga. native underwent surgery Monday in Statesboro. Rehabilitation will take approximately 6-12 months.
“It's a blow to our team but more than anything I feel bad for Johntavious,” said Price. “I felt like he was making strides and worked extremely hard in the offseason and was looking forward to having a good year.”
Rucker missed all but five games in 2006-07 with an elbow injury, sat out the remainder and was redshirted.
Last season he returned to play in 22 games and averaged 2.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per outing.
