Laliberte, Beasley Named to Magic City Classic All-Tournament Team

BIRMINGHAM ? Georgia Southern softball players Melissa Laliberte and Michelle Beasley were named to the Magic City Classic All-Tournament Team for their performances last weekend.
Laliberte, a senior from Cobourg, Ontario, Canada, earned Most Valuable Pitcher honors. The reigning Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week went 3-0 with a shutout and a 0.00 earned run average. She struck out 14 and allowed four hits in 12 innings of work. She helped combine on five straight shutouts, a new school record.
Beasley, a junior from Metter, Ga., posted team-high totals with a .364 average, a .636 slugging percentage and a .462 on base percentage. She went 4-for-11 at the plate with a home run and five RBI. Beasley accounted for both runs in GSU's 2-0 win over UAB with a two-run homer.
The Eagles, currently 16-10, went 5-0 on the weekend, all via shutout.
