Softball Hosts the College of Charleston this Weekend

STATESBORO, Ga. --- The Eagles return home for the first time since March 5 and host the College of Charleston this weekend in a Southern Conference series.
Georgia Southern (20-19, 2-1) was swept in a doubleheader Wednesday at Florida State and went hitless in game one. The team rebounded to post eight hits in game two but fell 4-3.
Charleston (17-22, 3-0) is one of the league's streakiest teams, losing 12 of its first 14 then winning seven straight, followed by an eight-game slide and now winning eight of nine, including a seven-game winning streak and a sweep of Appalachian State.
The Eagles remain the league's top hitting team with a .286 average and 185 runs scored. Five times this season GSU has scored 10 or more runs, including 11 in the series finale at Furman.
Junior Robyne Siliga, who needs two walks to become the school's all-time leader, leads the team with a .375 average, .489 on-base percentage and .625 slugging percentage. She has a league-high 37 RBI and her eight home runs are tied for second with teammate Jenny Side.
The Eagles also boast the SoCon's best pitching staff with a 2.02 earned run average, led by senior Melissa Laliberte's league-low 1.73 ERA. The staff has combined for a league-high 11 shutouts and has held the opposition to a .228 batting average.
