Greek Appreciation Night a Success
2/8/2008 7:27:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The inaugural Greek Appreciation Night was held during the basketball doubleheader Monday, Feb. 4 at Hanner Fieldhouse.
Close to 3,400 people were in attendance including members from 20 different Greek Life chapters here at Georgia Southern University. Members of these fraternities and sororities were able to compete with and against each other in special games held exclusively during timeouts and halftimes. The members enjoyed cheering for the men and women's basketball teams and supporting their favorite Greek organization.
A Greek Night Champion was crowned based on attendance and spirit. This year's champion honors were split between two different organizations: Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and Theta Xi fraternity. Their names will be inscribed onto a trophy to be displayed at the Russell Union and a new winner will be added every year. The two champions will also split the free full-page, full-color George Anne ad, courtesy of Student Media.
A special thanks to the other two sponsors, the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and Eagle Sports Marketing.
