Elizabeth Ryan Bio

Georgia Southern University Athletics announced the hiring of Elizabeth Ryan as its new assistant director of athletics media relations. Ryan will be the primary contact for the Eagles women's basketball, golf and tennis programs; other duties will be assigned at a later date.

Ryan worked last year in the Athletic Media Relations department while obtaining her master's degree at Georgia Southern. She also worked three years in the Athletic Communications department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While with the Tar Heels, Ryan worked with the men's and women's tennis teams, and assisted during all men's and women's basketball home games.

She has also had stints working in minor league baseball with the Carolina Mudcats where she played an integral part in every aspect of the organization. Her first year, she assumed the role of merchandising manager while also assisting in marketing, ticketing, multimedia production and official scoring. Last summer/fall she completed an internship with the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport, Rhode Island where she joined the tournament and special events team to successfully run two professional tennis tournaments. Her primary duties during her time at the ITHOF were center court liaison, player relations and marketing.

“We are excited to have Elizabeth join our staff on a full-time basis. She brings a wealth of knowledge from her time at North Carolina, and was a key member of the Athletic Media Relations Department staff last year,” said Assistant Director Patrick Osterman. “Elizabeth got to know our coaching staff and student-athletes, in addition to gaining experience with our day-to-day operations. That will certainly help her transition as our new Assistant Director.”

Originally from Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, Ryan holds an undergraduate degree from UNC in Political Science/History and a Master's of Science in Sport Management from Georgia Southern.
