STATESBORO, Ga. --- The Georgia Southern men's basketball program has signed Emarri Bailey to a National Letter of Intent for the 2009-10 season, announced head coach Jeff Price.
Bailey (6-6, 215) is a five-year varsity letterwinner at four-time defending state champion Arlington County Day School in Jacksonville, Fla. He has the potential to become the second player ever to win five state championships in Florida.
“We're thrilled to have Emarri as a part of our program,” said Price. “He comes from a powerhouse program in the state of Florida. He's an extremely athletic guard that we feel like can come in and help us immediately.”
Bailey averaged 13 points and eight rebounds as a junior for the Apaches.
ACDS has been called “one of the most celebrated programs in the country” by USA Today. They finished eighth in USA Today's Super 25 rankings in 2005, one of only eight schools to be listed in the top 25 for the entire season, and were 14th in the final 2006 poll.
Georgia Southern went 20-12 overall last season and 13-7 in the Southern Conference. It was the program's third 20-win season in the last five years.
