Statesboro, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern Cross Country team is set to run at the 2008 Tiger Invitational at the Indian Pines Golf Course.
“I am really pumped for the girls this weekend,” said Head Coach Natalie Smith. “Each meet we are getting better and better. Also we should have Kassi Lee (Elberton, Ga.) back running with us this week after coming off of injury and I have added senior London Ryles (Decatur, Ga.) from the track team to our roster. I believe that we are about to really start putting things together.”
The Georgia Southern Cross Country team ran at the 20th annual Asics Winthrop Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.
Last time out Georgia Southern ran in the Asics Winthrop Invitational and placed 16th.
Laura Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) led the Eagles with a time of 20:49 in the 5K event.
Shauntel Jennings (Stone Mountain, GA (Lithonia)) followed her up with a time of 20:58 in the 5K event.
The Auburn 5K women's blue race is set to start Saturday at 8:45 a.m.
“The ladies have been working extremely hard and they are an amazing group to work with. Going to Auburn will be a big meet for us this week especially since we are exactly a month outside of the conference championships. This meet has grown so much that they are having to run two divisions. We are looking forward to coming back with our best times from the season,” said Coach Smith.
Other teams participating in the Tiger Invitational include; Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Anderson, Chattahoochee Tech, Columbus State, Darton, Georgia Southern, King College, Mercer, West Alabama, West Florida and West Georgia.
