Men's Basketball Looks to Rebound Against Furman Saturday

STATESBORO, Ga. --- The Eagles try to rebound from a seven-point loss Thursday to Wofford and take on Furman Saturday at Hanner Fieldhouse.
Georgia Southern suffered its first home loss of the season to the Terriers and was held to less than 80 points for the first time this year in Hanner. Saturday's game continues a stretch where the team plays four times in a week's time.
“We've got to regroup,” head coach Jeff Price said. “We play Saturday, Monday and Thursday. We have four games in eight days, and we hated to lose (to Wofford). We had a great opportunity and let it get away. Now we've got to steal one that maybe we are not supposed to get.”
The nine-point halftime lead that was lost matches the season high by an Eagle opponent (Florida).
Among the bright spots was senior Louis Graham who tied his career high with 26 points, shooting 9-for-18 from the floor and a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. It was his third 20-point game in his last four outings and fourth in the past six.
The first time these two teams met, Furman was in the midst of a season-opening 12-game losing streak. The Paladins finally turned the tide before the New Year and has gone 3-5 since then, including a win over the College of Charleston.
“Watching tape of them, they are a much better team now,” Price said. “They are starting to come together better as a team, and I expect as the season goes on they'll continue to do that.”
Furman's Alex Opacic has upped his game of late, leading the team in scoring three times in the past four outings, including two 20-point performances. He came off the bench to score 12 in the first meeting in November.
Saturday will feature two major promotions: the sixth Annual Hanner Hooligan Tailgate and the third annual Pack the House in Pink. The Tailgate will take place in the Hanner parking lot and will begin at 2 p.m. Also, all students and fans are encouraged to wear pink to show our support for the fight against breast cancer.
