2016-17: Named to Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll
Senior (2015-16): Team captain • Played in 30 games • Averaged four points and 2.1 rebounds per game and played 15.2 minutes a contest • Shot 43 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from the 3-point line • • Played a season-high of 28 minutes against Troy, tallying five points, three assists and two rebounds • Posted a season-high 13 points against Winthrop • Scored 10 points in 17 minutes at UL Lafayette (3/5).
Before Georgia Southern: Lettered three seasons at Marshall • Played in 85 career contests and started 16 • Averaged 3.4 points and 1.5 rebounds in 15.4 minutes as a junior • Scored a career-high 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the floor in a win over Western Kentucky (2/14/15) • Shot 44.4 percent from 3-point range as a junior and 38.3 percent as a sophomore • Missed seven games in his redshirt freshman season with an injury.
Prep: Led East Rutherford High School to its first state championship with a 27-1 record • Named MVP of the state championship game • Averaged 17 points, 13 rebounds and four assists as a senior • Named first team all-state • All-conference performer for three years and conference Player of the Year as a senior • Averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as a junior.
Personal: Born Dec. 17, 1992 • Son of Robert and Tonya Boykins • Has a younger brother Devonte, who is a sophomore on the Georgia Southern men’s basketball team, and younger sister Devoria • Robert played basketball at Johnson C. Smith University (1992-95) and was a teammate of Eagle assistant coach Larry Dixon • He also played professionally in Germany, Korea, Dominican Republic, Israel and Australia • Mother, Atoniea, played on basketball, softball and volleyball scholarships at Johnson C. Smith • She also played professional basketball in Germany.
Major: Working towards his master’s degree in sport management.
