Taylor Sherwin

Taylor Sherwin serves as the Assistant AD for Administration, a role she transitioned to in December of 2024 after six seasons with Georgia Southern volleyball, first as an assistant coach and then as the associate head coach for two seasons.

The Eagles followed 2023 with another strong season in 2024, recording the team's first consecutive 20-win seasons since 2012 and 2013 after a 22-7 year, earning another trip to the NIVC. The Eagles defeated a Power Conference opponent for the first time during Sherwin's tenure, taking down Clemson in four sets at home on Sep. 7. GS finished the season at no. 53 in RPI, the highest end-of-season mark in program history and firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble, which was as high as no. 28 at one point of the season. The Eagles started the season a program-best 12-1 and went 14-0 at Hanner Fieldhouse, the team's first undefeated home season since 2003. Under her guidance, Reagan Barth was named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention and All-Sun Belt First Team, and both Ashlyn Lovett and Kirsten Barrett earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honors. Georgia Southern finished the season top-50 nationally in the following categories: digs per set (12), kills per set (20), aces per set (34), assists per set (38) and hitting percentage (39), leading the Sun Belt in all categories. Lovett placed seventh nationally and first in the conference in digs, and Barth and Barrett were first and second in the league in aces, finishing 34th and 38th nationally. In franchise history, the 17.5 digs per set were third-best in a season, the .758 winning percentage was 4th overall and the .255 team hitting percentage was also fourth overall.

Volleyball had one of its most successful seasons in recent memory after finishing the 2023 season 23-9 (.719) and earning a trip to the Great Eight of the NIVC. It was the team's first 20-win season since 2013 and the first two postseason wins in program history. The team's ten wins in conference play were the most it has had since joining the Sun Belt. Under Sherwin's guidance, the Eagles led the conference in total blocks and hitting percentage, while finishing second in blocks per set, which was eighth in the NCAA. Reagan Barth was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team, and the .719 winning percentage was best in the conference. The Eagles won 20 matches again in 2024 and made it to the Round of 16 of the NIVC.

The 2022 campaign saw Georgia Southern post its second consecutive winning season in home matches (8-4) and its second straight campaign with a .500 or better winning percentage in conference play (7-7). The Eagles ranked 18th in the country and first in the Sun Belt in aces (1.84/set) and ranked first in the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.176) and second in digs (15.30/set).

In addition into assisting in coordinating the offense, Sherwin mentors the Eagle setters. Madison Brown earned Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week honors twice in 2020 and once in 2021, and Grace Slader won the award once in 2021.

A nine-year veteran in the collegiate coaching ranks, Sherwin has been instrumental in the resurgence of the program which saw Georgia Southern finish the 2021 campaign with a 17-11 record, the most wins since the 2013 season, and the Eagles' nine Sun Belt victories were the most since joining the league in 2014. The Eagles also collected 11 home wins, the most since 2013, when GS went 13-2 in Hanner Fieldhouse.

Sherwin arrived in Statesboro after spending three seasons as an assistant with head coach Chad Willis at Appalachian State. She was primarily in charge of training the setters and assisting in coordinating the Mountaineer offense. The Mountaineers went 22-9 and 13-3 in the Sun Belt in 2018, won the SBC East Division, advanced to the league tournament championship contest and made an appearance in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. Setter Becky Porter was named the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year and first-team All-Sun Belt.

Sherwin also played a pivotal role in recruiting and helped Appalachian State land a 2017 class that was tabbed by PrepVolleyball as highest honorable mention for the nation’s top recruiting class.

Before her time at Appalachian, she spent the 2015 season as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Minnesota. The Golden Gophers finished the 2015 campaign with a 30-5 overall record, including a nearly-perfect 18-2 mark in Big Ten Conference play. Minnesota made it all the way to the national semifinal where they dropped a four-set match to the eventual runner-up Texas Longhorns.

Sherwin was a three-time captain and most valuable player during a four-year playing career at Ohio State. The setter was a 2014 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention after a Sweet 16 NCAA run. As an All-Big Ten honorable mention, Sherwin averaged 10.96 assists per set in conference play, which ranked fourth in the Big Ten. She was selected as the Big Ten Setter of the Week twice in 2014 and four times in her career, and her 3,624 career assists rank fifth all-time at Ohio State.

Sherwin graduated in 2015 with a degree in speech and hearing communications.
