Redshirt Junior (2017-18): Played in 32 games and averaged 13.1 minutes • Posted 3.3 points and three rebounds a contest • Shot .714 from the field in 2017-18 and shot .610 for his career (119-195) • Tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds vs. Bluefield State • Posted 10 points and three rebounds vs. Texas State (1/25) • Collected 310 points, 280 rebounds and 41 blocked shots for his career.

Redshirt Sophomore (2016-17): Played in 29 games and made 10 starts • Averaged 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.7 minutes a game • Shot 57 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free-throw line • Tallied a season-high 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocks against Radford (11/26) • Recorded nine points twice against NC State and Coastal Georgia • Registered 11 rebounds vs. Fisk (11/22) • Led the team in rebounding in three contests • First off the bench in four games.

Redshirt Freshman (2015-16): Played in 31 games and made four starts • Averaged three points and 3.3 rebounds in 14.2 minutes a game • Shot 55 percent from the field and 65 percent from the free-throw line • First off the bench in 18 contests • Led the Eagles in rebounding twice • Scored in double figures in three games • Tallied 10 points and eight rebounds against UL Lafayette (1/14) • Recorded 10 points and six boards at Appalachian State (1/25) • Registered eight points and six rebounds at Little Rock (1/28) • Notched 10 points against Bob Jones and logged eight points and eight boards vs. Webber International.

Freshman (2014-15): Redshirted the season.

Prep: Two-year letterwinner at Milton High School under coach Matt Kramer • Earned all-region honors in 2013 and 2014 • Averaged 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and three blocked shots as a senior • Also played for Atlanta Celtics under coach Dion Glover.
 
Personal: Born Shawn Austin O’Connell Dec. 7, 1995, in Baltimore, Md. • Parents are Crystal and Dave O’Connell • Has two younger siblings, Alex and Brady • Alex is a freshman on the Duke basketball team • Dave played basketball at Duke (1973-76) • Uncle, Mike O’Connell, played basketball at Notre Dame • Uncle, Tim O’Connell, played basketball and baseball at Xavier and is in the school's Athletics Hall of Fame.
