Edwin Jackson Memorial Walk-On Tryouts

Edwin Jackson Memorial Walk-On Tryouts

Each year, the Georgia Southern football program holds the Edwin Jackson Memorial Walk-On Tryouts. The process is named in honor of Edwin Jackson, who went from walk-on tryout participant to NFL starter and was tragically killed in an auto accident on Feb. 4, 2018. You can read about his story here.

Here is the information regarding the tryouts. An announcement will be posted on GSEagles.com and social media as to the tryout date(s).

To be eligible to begin the process, a candidate must be enrolled at Georgia Southern for the current semester, taking at least 12 hours.

Documents required before the information meeting for each student include:
1) Copy of student's current semester class schedule, verifying full-time enrollment
2) A copy of a physical exam conducted within six months of the tryout date (absolutely no exceptions)
3) Copy of the front and back of a medical insurance card (insurance waiver or self-pay will not be accepted)
4) Assumption of Risk Form (PDF)
5) Tryout waiver (PDF)
6) Sickle Cell results (no exceptions, this is an NCAA rule)

Candidates who do not present the required documents by the deadline will not be permitted to try out at this time. For more information about the meeting, required documents or tryouts, contact gsfootball@georgiasouthern.edu.

Participants must meet NCAA eligibility standards and agree and comply with the Georgia Southern and NCAA drug testing policy.
