The Eagles play in Corvallis, Oregon, May 18-20
STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's golf team has earned an at-large bid to the Corvallis Regional for the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, it was announced on The GOLF Channel Wednesday afternoon.
The regional is scheduled for May 18-20 at Trysting Tree Golf Club, where the Eagles will compete against 12 other teams and 10 individuals. The Corvallis Regional is one of six in the country. The top five teams and the top individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals, which will be played Friday, May 29 - Wednesday, June 3 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa| Carlsbad, California.
"Making it for the 29th time says a lot about the history of this program and alumni that have stepped foot in Statesboro and made an impact on this program," head coach Carter Collins said. "We're proud to add to their legacy. The course will be a challenge. There's been a few college events at Trysting Hill that we've been able to look at some stats and break it down, but we're excited about the opportunity because it fits our games pretty well. There will definitely be some stuff to adjust to, but we'll be ready."
The Eagles are the ninth seed in the Corvallis Regional, which has a field of Arkansas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Charlotte, UCLA, Notre Dame, San Diego, Purdue, Oregon State, Liberty, Xavier and Sacramento State.
Georgia Southern will appear in the NCAA Regional for the 19th time in program history and the first since 2023. Prior to the NCAA expanding postseason to include six regional sites in 1989, the Eagles made 10 additional appearances in the NCAA Championship, so this will be the Eagles' 29th NCAA appearance. The Eagles have advanced out of Regional play six times, in 2001, 2002, 2005, 2010, 2019 and 2022.
Georgia Southern has now made 12 appearances in the past contested 18 NCAA Championships. Georgia Southern won the SoCon Tournament in 2011 and 2014, the Sun Belt Tournament in 2015 and 2021 and received at-large bids in 2009, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2026. Georgia Southern made six consecutive NCAA Championship appearances from 2001-06 and then four in a row from 2019-23 (2020 was canceled due to COVID).
The Eagles have now made seven appearances in the NCAA Championships under head coach Carter Collins and 12 in Collins' tenure on the coaching staff.
