
Eagles Set for Coach Mo Classic Monday

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern women's golf returns to the course this week, taking part in the second annual Coach Mo Classic hosted by Furman University and North Florida University, Mar. 30-31. The Eagles enter the weekend after posting a top-10 finish at the Valspar Augusta Invitational two weeks ago.
St. John's Golf and Country Club will host the 16 competing teams, as the Par 72 course will feature a two-day 54-hole tournament. Shotgun starts beginning at 8:30 a.m. will kick off the first two rounds of action on Monday morning.
The field will consist of hosts Furman and North Florida, Abilene Christian, Augusta, Cal State Bakersfield, No. 12 UCF, Chattanooga, Daytona State, Flagler, FIU, No. 16 Florida State, Georgia Southern, No. 55 Illinois, No. 53 Michigan, No. 51 Purdue, and St. Thomas.

- Georgia Southern women's golf secured a top-10 finish at the Valspar Augusta Invitational the last time they competed, guided by back-to-back rounds under par by Haven Ward. Ward earned Sun Belt Women's Golfer of the Week honors after rebounding from a first round 77 to shoot consecutive rounds under par of 69 and 68 to finish fifth individually at the event.
- After shooting a 77 to open the Valspar Augusta Invitational, Haven Ward fired back-to-back rounds under par to post her season-best tournament tally. In round two, Ward carded a three-under round of 69, featuring five birdies. She turned around on Sunday morning and posted a bogey-free four-under round of 68, moving 16 spots into solo fifth. Ward completed the weekend with 11 total birdies, surpassing the 10 she posted in Puerto Rico to begin the spring season. Her efforts in Augusta helped guide the Eagles to a seventh-place team finish and her consecutive rounds under par were the lowest of the season for the junior.
- Ward and Margaux Brejo lead the Eagles with 90-plus percent of their rounds counting on the season. Ward holds the edge, posting 23 counted rounds out of the 24 competitions competed in, while Brejo has tallied 22 counted outings.
