STATESBORO — The Georgia Southern baseball team (0-8, 0-0 SBC) fell in a close 7-5 contest to Kennesaw State (4-3, 0-0 C-USA) on Tuesday night (February 24th).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a clean first inning, the Owls used a three-run and solo homer in the second inning to lead 4-0 after two.
In the Owls's third, Wesley Alig would deliver a two-RBI single up the middle to increase the lead to six.
The Eagles would sit down six of the next seven Owls heading into the fifth.
In the fourth, the Eagles started the inning with back-to-back singles by Sean White and Jack Myers before Brsyon Trammell kept the inning going by reaching aboard an error, scoring one.
The next batter saw Nico Senese drive a double down the left field line two plate another, cutting it to 6-2.
The Owls would match one of those runs with a James McGe solo homer, his second of the day, to make it 7-2.
In the eighth, a leadoff single from pinch hitter Brady Christman would later find him on third with one away. Max Prozny would deliver a sac-fly to cut the deficit to four.
The final frame saw the Eagles make a late push, as White and Trammell would hit back-to-back solo homers to make it a 7-5 game. The Owls would retire the next two batters to end the game, however.

NOTES:

Senese made his 60th career start at Southern tonight and his first not playing third base.
In his place, Kade Kisz made his first career start playing the hot corner.
In his first game back after a short injury, Trammell would go 2-4 while reaching aboard in four of his five at-bats.
Both Myers and White would go for three-hit games; Myers' first of the season and White's second.
Jax Lewis would close out the game, pitching two scoreless innings, only allowing one hit and striking out three.
Seven different Eagles would collect hits on the night.
