Atlanta, Ga. --- The Georgia Southern baseball team (25-24, 11-13 SBC) fell to Georgia Tech (34-14, 15-9 ACC) by an 8-5 margin on Tuesday night (May 6th).

The first five of six frames to start the contest saw a run in them. Just the second batter into the game for Southern, JP Herrholz would launch a 404 foot homer into the right field trees at Russ Chandler Stadium that would allow the Eagles to be the ones to strike first on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, an Eagle error would be the way that Tech scored in their half of the first. In nearly the exact same way as Herrholz, Cade Parker would mash a homer of his own that went in the same location, just 14 feet softer. The Eagle shortstop would join Josh Tate as the two Eagles in the double-digit home run club. For Tech, a bases-loaded hit batter would nod the game up at two before homering in their next time at the dish to make it 3-2 after a third of the game's completion.

IN the Yellow Jacket fourth, two separate homers would allow Tech to scratch five runs across, extending their lead to 8-3, all in the first 12 outs of the contest. However, Southern would hold them scoreless after that. The duo of Thomas Burke and Joey White would not allow an earned run in their 4.2 combined innings of work, only allowing four hits and striking out five Jackets.In the sixth, back-to-back hits from Nico Senese and Luke Odden would score two and give them each an RBI of their own to cut it to a four run game.

While the Eagles cashed another run in from a bases-loaded catcher's interference in the eighth, they could not make any more of the inning, allowing Tech to hold their lead in the end, On the night, Southern outhit the ACC squad, 12-11, and was majorly helped by Odden's 3-3 performance and best at Georgia Southern. The two home run Eagles in Herrholz and Parker each also had multi-hit days as well.Eight of the nine Eagles in the starting lineup recorded hits on the evening.

Next, the Eagles match up against Texas State for a crucial series in the Sun Belt, as the Bobcats sit just a game ahead of the Eagles in the standings. First pitch on Vidalia Onion Fest at J.I. is set for 6:30 pm Friday night (May 9th).
