BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State earned a 4-1 Sun Belt Conference women's tennis victory over visiting Georgia Southern on Saturday morning at the Southern Indoor Tennis Complex in Boone, N.C.
The Mountaineers improve to 15-5 overall and 7-2 in the league with the victory, while Georgia Southern falls to 10-8 overall and 2-5 in the Sun Belt. The Eagles will be next in action on Saturday, April 12, visiting James Madison for a Sun Belt matchup in Harrisonburg, Va.
App State earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
With only three courts available at the facility to play at one time, the Mountaineers then took a 3-0 lead with straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Franzi Heinemann got the Eagles on the board with a 6-0, 7-6 (1) win over Naledi Manyube at No. 2 singles.
App State would then clinch the match with a straight-set win at No. 4 singles.
