Softball Falls, 1-0, to ULM on Thursday Night

Eagles move to 11-5 in conference play

MONROE, La. – Georgia Southern Softball (27-18, 11-5 SBC) dropped a pitcher's duel, 1-0, to ULM (31-16, 11-5 SBC) on Thursday night at ULM Softball Complex.

Georgia Southern loaded the bases in the first as Emma Davis and Valerie Combs recorded back-to-back base hits before moving up a base on a Faith Barth sacrifice bunt. Delanie Thames tallied an infield single to load the bases but a double play ended the threat.

The Eagles would go on to leave seven runners on base and were held to 0-for-2 with runners on third and less than two outs.

ULM would have a response in the bottom half of the first, after a leadoff single, the lone run of the game would score on an RBI single.

Maddie Johnson (12-8) suffered the loss in the circle after going the distance. Johnson tossed six innings allowing one run on four hits and picking up four strikeouts.

Offensively, the Eagles outhit the Warhawks five to four with five different Eagles recording hits in the contest.
