Miller’s Career Best Secures First Win, Women’s Golf Takes More Than Golf Invitational

Eagles place five inside the top-15

AIKEN, S.C. – Freshman Mary Miller carded a collegiate career best 72-68-74 (-5) to earn her first individual title to lead the Georgia Southern women's golf team to its fourth tournament championship of the season at the inaugural More Than Golf Invitational hosted by the ANNIKA Foundation on Sunday afternoon. 

Miller opened the tournament shooting 1-under par with three birdies before posting a collegiate best 5-under second round to take the lead heading into the final round. The Savannah native, tallied five birdies and her second Eagle on the season to go bogey-free on the back nine. Miller held steady in the final round carding a 74 with two birdies and was bogey-free on the front nine. The 5-under 54-hole total ties for the fifth best in program history. 

Louise Reau finished third shooting 73-74-69 (-3) for her fifth top-5 finish of the season. Reau's tournament best third round lifted her up three spots on the leaderboard after carding a 4-under including five birdies and an eagle on the 16th hole.

Tunwannarux secured her Georgia Southern career best, finishing tied for 10th, logging a 4-over 224 (73-73-78). She tallied a season high 12 birdies over three rounds. 

Two additional Eagles finished inside the top-15 including Kelsey Chen who played as an individual finishing 11th and LoraLie Cowart placed tied for 13th. Regina Plascencia finished T24. 

Georgia Southern led the field in par 4 and 5 scoring and racked up a tournament best and season best three eagles while finishing second in total pars (155).

Next Up 
The Eagles are scheduled for match play against Missouri on April 6 before returning to tournament play at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic beginning on April 8 at the UGA Golf Course.
