STATESBORO - Senior setter Kirsten Barrett has been named the Sun Belt Conference volleyball setter of the week once again for Georgia Southern, her second straight weekly honor from the league and fourth of the season.
Barrett led all Sun Belt players on the week in total assists (95) and assists per set (11.88) in the Eagles' pair of matches this week. The Cleveland, Ohio, native also notched 29 digs (3.63 per set). On Friday, she delivered a season-high 54 assists and a career-high 21 digs in a five-set thriller against Marshall, notching her seventh double-double of the season. Barrett then notched 41 assists (13.67 assists/set) in Saturday's sweep of the Thundering Herd, leading the team to a .351 hitting percentage
This is the seventh career weekly honor for Barrett, extending her own school record for earning conference awards. She also continues to lead the Sun Belt and currently ranks 13th n NCAA Division I in assists per set at 10.51.
Barrett and the Eagles return to action on Friday, traveling to Troy for a two-game series against the Trojans.
