STATESBORO - Bryan Schor, who has played a pivotal role in the development of Georgia Southern quarterbacks the past three seasons, has been promoted to tight ends coach of the Georgia Southern football program. The former national champion quarterback has served as a senior analyst for the Eagles and has played a key role in the high-octane passing game put on the field each fall.
"We are very excited about the promotion of
Bryan Schor to our tight ends coaching position," said Georgia Southern head football coach
Clay Helton. "Bryan has been an important cog in helping build our program over the past three seasons. He has elite knowledge of our offensive system, has played a big role in our recruiting success, and has built strong relationships with our current players on this team. I am confident that our tight end position will continue to thrive under his leadership."
While serving in the senior analyst role, Schor was on staff in 2021 as Kyle Vantrease broke nearly every Georgia Southern passing mark in leading the Eagles to the Camellia Bowl. A year later, Davis Brin also put up big passing numbers and
JC French set a program record for completion percentage in 2024. Prior to his time in Statesboro, Schor was a graduate assistant at East Carolina. There, he worked with Holton Ahlers, who is the career leader in passing yards, total offensive yards, passing touchdowns, touchdowns responsible for, completions, pass attempts and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in East Carolina history.
"I'm very excited to stay at Georgia Southern and coach the tight ends," Schor said. "I knew when I got here three years ago that Statesboro was a special place. I am grateful Coach Helton and Coach Aplin for this opportunity and looking forward to the 2025 season. GATA!"
Schor re-wrote the record books while playing at James Madison, leading the Dukes to the 2016 FCS National Championship. He broke JMU career records for passing touchdowns (62), passing yards (7,078), completions (559) and total offense (8,241). As a junior, he was named a HERO Sports FCS second-team All-American, won the Bill Dudley Award, which is presented to top Division I player in Virginia, was the CAA Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-CAA quarterback after completing 217-of-297 pass attempts for 3,002 yards and 29 touchdowns against six interceptions. He threw three touchdown passes in the national semifinal against North Dakota State and two more in the title game against Youngstown State. In his senior season, he threw for 3,222 yards and 26 touchdowns as the Dukes finished as the FCS national runners-up.
After graduating from JMU in 20218, Schor signed a one-year contract with Winnipeg of the Canadian Football League in 2019 and then later signed with Ottawa. He also participated in a rookie minicamp with the Chicago Bears in 2018.
He graduated in 2013 from Delaware Valley High in Pennsylvania, where he helped lead his team to an 11-2 record his senior season, earning Pennsylvania Class AAAA first-team all-state honors. He was a two-time all-region and all-conference selection his final two years, finishing his four-year starting career with 6,518 passing yards and 56 touchdowns. He was inducted into the Delaware Valley High Hall of Fame in 2023.
Schor is married to Lindsay and the couple live in Statesboro.
