SIU transfer won the MVC individual crown this past season
STATESBORO - Edouard Cereto, who was the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Individual Champion and the MVC Newcomer of the Year, will transfer to Georgia Southern to play men's golf, as announced Friday by head coach Carter Collins. The rising junior from Béziers, France was also named first-team all-conference for his play this past season.
"We are excited to add Edouard to our program," Collins said. "He brings with him a wealth of experience, accomplishments and a reputation as a great teammate. Edouard is excited to earn what he can, and we are excited for him to have the opportunity. Hail Southern!"
Cereto became the first golfer in Southern Illinois history to capture the Missouri Valley Conference Championship with a 7-under 209 to lead the Salukis to the team title and a berth in the NCAA Regional. He finished as the top Saluki in four separate events, including two individual titles he won. Cereto averaged 71.50 in 38 rounds for the Salukis with four low rounds of 67 and 13 rounds in the 60s
As a freshman, he was a member of the 2023 NJCAA National Championship Indian Hills CC squad, where he averaged 72.70 in 29 rounds.
Georgia Southern returns six players from the 2023-24 squad and welcomes three freshman and now Cereto. The 2024-25 schedule will be released later this summer.
