STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern Softball team travels to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament looking for its first post season win since the Eagles joined the league in 2015. The Eagles open the first round of the tournament facing #10 Marshall on Wednesday, May 8 at 8 p.m. ET at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos, Texas.
Georgia Southern drew the seven seed after a three-way tie for sixth place at the conclusion of the regular season. The Eagles come into the tournament with a 30-20 overall record and a 12-12 league record for its highest winning percentage since entering the Sun Belt in 2015.
The Eagles will square off against the tenth-seeded Marshall for the first time in the tournament on Wednesday. Marshall claimed the series this season two games to one in the first conference series of the season back in mid March. The Eagles opened conference play with a 4-3 win over Marshall before dropping the final two games of the series.
The winner of Wednesday's contest is set to face #2 Texas State on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
All games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Eagles extended its winning streak to seven games after sweeping the final conference series of the regular season at Appalachian State. Georgia Southern outscored the Mountaineers 18-8 over the three-game span.

Katie Perkins combined for nine hits, four runs batted in, and eight runs scored. Davis launched her first collegiate home run and
Delanie Thames blasted a grand slam as the team collected four home runs on the weekend. In the circle, the pitching staff held the Mountaineer offense to just eight runs, on 19 hits, and combined for 11 strikeouts. Freshman
Anslie Pettit tossed four scoreless innings scattering four hits and surrendering just one walk.
