Georgia Southern competes in the Sun Belt Championship April 15-18 at The Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama in a field that features all 13 Sun Belt women's golf programs. All rounds will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
For the first time the championship will begin with three rounds of stroke play before the top-four teams following 54 holes of stroke play advance to match play, with semifinals and the championship to be contested on April 18.
The Eagles have finished fourth or better in six of the seven Sun Belt Championships competed in since the start of the program in 2016. Georgia Southern won the team title in 2022 before placing fourth last season.
Four teams in the field are ranked in the top-100 according to Scoreboard by Clippd including the Eagles (54), Texas State (60), James Madison (93), and Coastal Carolina (99).
Georgia Southern is coming off a 12th place finish at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens. Louise Reau used a 67 in the third round to finish tied for fifth at four-under par. The freshman tallied ten birdies and was bogey-free on the back nine in rounds one and two. Regina Plascencia finished T29 shooting 73-75-75 tallying seven total birdies and was bogey free on the back nine in rounds one and two. The field featured five top-25 teams and seven within the top-50.
The Eagles will go back to the same lineup as the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, and Alex Stevenson will serve as the alternate. Four of the five Eagles in the lineup competed last season in the championship and Reau will make her championship debut.
Georgia Southern will tee off between 10:30-11:06 a.m. on Hole 1 and will be paired with Texas State and James Madison.
