JONESBORO, Ark. - The Georgia Southern baseball team is set to take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a Sun Belt Conference series starting on Thursday, March 28, at Tomlinson Stadium-Kell Field.
Georgia Southern carries a 12-12 overall record into the contest after taking down the College of Charleston on Tuesday night in run-rule fashion. That game saw the Eagles belt out 17 hits, including 10 extra base hits and three home runs. GS also carried a 3-3 Sun Belt record into the game after taking two games against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles last weekend.
Ty Fisher earned Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after his complete game effort against Southern Miss. Arkansas State is 15-12 overall after taking a midweek contest over the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions to sweep the season series, but does carry a 2-4 SC record after dropping two games at Marshall last weekend.
Georgia Southern is 15-7 all-time against the Red Wolves. Last time the two met, the Eagles swept Arkansas State in Statesboro in 2022. The last time the two met in Jonesboro, Arkansas State took two of three from the Eagles back in 2021.
The Eagles will debut a retooled rotation, starting with RHP
Ben Johnson on Thursday, followed by RHP
Thomas Higgins on Friday and LHP
Ty Fisher on Saturday. Arkansas State is planning to start RHP Collin Maloney on Thursday, RHP Jelle can der Lelie on Friday, and RHP Dylan Heine on Saturday.
