STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern softball team is set to host College of Charleston in a midweek matchup on Wednesday at Beautiful Eagle Field. First pitch is set for 5 p.m and will be broadcast on ESPN+. The midweek contest marks the Eagles fine tuneup before it begins Sun Belt Conference play this weekend at Marshall.

The Eagles enter the game at 15-7 after going 3-1 in the Hail Southern Classic hosted at Beautiful Eagle Field. The Eagles picked up two wins against Buffalo and split two games with Winthrop. Over the weekend,
Anslie Pettit tossed 13 complete innings allowing no runs on seven hits and totaled 14 strikeouts.
Delanie Thames led the offense batting .429 including three hits and two runs.

Scouting the Cougars
College of Charleston comes into the midweek matchup 7-13 overall. The Cougars dropped a three-game series at Delaware last weekend winning the second game 2-1. Shealyn Starks leads the offense batting .303 with a team leading 20 hits and Payton Lemire leads the team in the circle with a 3.07 earned run average in 57 innings pitched including 57 strikeouts. The Cougars were picked eighth in the CAA preseason poll after finishing sixth last season.
