STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis notched its second straight win on Friday with a 7-0 victory over visiting Radford at the Wallis Tennis Center.
The Eagles (4-6) also remained unbeaten at home during the Spring with the win over the Highlanders (0-5). Georgia Southern returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Stetson for a 2 p.m. match against the Hatters.
After a rainy morning that finally cleared up in time for a 2 o'clock start to match, Georgia Southern quickly claimed the doubles point as
Judson Blair and
Aaron James Williams picked up a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, then
Pol del Castillo and
Dimitris Paliouras claimed a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
The Eagles then clinched the sweep with straight-set wins in all six singles matches.
"First off, I've got to give a lot of credit to my assistant Adria," Georgia Southern head men's tennis coach
Andrew Goodwin said. "He put in a ton of work before the match to make this happen. We were scrambling, trying to beat the weather and trying to dry the courts. I appreciate him and everyone else who made this match happen. Our guys were solid today, I thought they competed tough and that's what we needed. Now we're going to get ready for Stetson on Sunday."
