Get to know the 2023-24 Georgia Southern women's golf team
STATESBORO – GSEagles.com is getting to know the nine members of the 2023-24 Georgia Southern women's golf team. Up next we have 5th year senior Hayley Yerxa.
Name: Haley Yerxa
Hometown: Ottawa, Ontario
Home Course: Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club
Major: Computer Science
Why did you choose Georgia Southern?
I fell in love with the practice facilities and I knew it would be a team that would push me to be the best golfer I could become.
What are your goals for the season?
My goals for the season are to play every tournament with the intention of bringing home the team trophy, to have a team ranking inside the top 50, to be ranked inside the top 150 individually, 1st team all-Sunbelt, and to make it to the national championship.
What is your favorite memory at Georgia Southern?
Holing out for eagle on my last hole of the Sunbelt championship in front of all of my teammates and coaches.
What made you decide to play golf?
My dad entered me in the Drive, Chip, and Putt and it made me fall in love with the competitive aspect of golf

Brooke Henderson
What is your favorite club in your bag?
Pitching Wedge
What is your favorite course played?
Chamber's Bay
What is your favorite of the four majors?
The Masters
Have you had any holes in one? If so, how many and which was your favorite?
1 hole in one at my home course on Canada day

What is one thing people don't know about you?
I can do advanced calculus but I'm terrible at mental math

Georgia Southern women's golf opened the spring season at the Lady Bulldog Invitational finishing sixth in a competitive field and will travel to the Spartan Suncoast Invitational Feb. 18-19 for its second tournament of the season.
